PROJECT OVERVIEW
Replacement of two skylights destroyed by hurricane Maria. DᾹLYTE provided the new structural aluminum frame and polycarbonate glazing – materials only. Caribe Glass demo’d the existing units and installed the new skylights.
DESIGN CHALLENGES
The unique shape of both ridge skylights created additional design challenges. The new skylights needed to meet the high hurricane wind loading of 165mph. Besides the positive pressures from the wind – having the skylights open below also created high negative (uplift) loading requirements.
SOLUTION
DᾹLYTE’s design and Solid Works expertise provided the required tools to solve the specific project requirements. Rendering the units in 3D allowed the design team to identify profile and connection challenges. The final design utilized large aluminum rafters combined with steel inserts and components. Fully fabricating and assembling the skylights before shipping to PR assured the final install would be seamless.

“We are a local roofing company that has been purchasing skylights from DĀLYTE for quite a while. They have always done a great job with every order we place with them and everyone there is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!”
“DĀLYTE is the only skylight company that Elite Roofing trusts. They go above and beyond the help determine your needs then finding an easy solution to your problems. They also let insurance companies know that you need to replace your full skylight and not just reglaze the existing one.”
